Hero WOD Challenge | Everything You Need to Know

The PATHFINDER Hero WOD Challenge Purpose

Hero WODs memorialize men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice, dying in their line of duty, of the many military branches and first responder agencies. Hero WODS first began in Crossfit around 2005 and have since grown into a meaningful way for athletes around the world to memorialize and commemorate thousands of fallen heroes. Given PATHFINDER's strong connection to the armed forces and emergency first responders, it naturally belongs within our community.

PATHFINDER has created the Hero WOD Challenge so our rosters can participate in the same Hero WODs each week as a group, and we intend to build out the Challenge so we can have our own PATHFINDER Hero WODs specific to our community's heroes. To nominate your Hero, please fill out this form.

Program Challenge Requirements

  • Life, Forward, Endure, Advanced: this is an approved Challenge for these PATHFINDER programs.
  • Advanced: OCALA, Compete, Horizon, Stirling: This is not a currently an approved Challenge.

How does this work?

In each PATHFINDER Class cycle, we will publish between 12-14 Hero WODs, depending on how many weeks we have in each PATHFINDER Class. The workouts will vary with each Class.

Rosters will perform the workout for that week, and note it in their log file with the WOD name.

The roster may not select Hero WOD Challenge as Complete from their log's dropdown menu until they have completed all required workouts for that Class.

Can I do any Hero WOD and count it towards the Challenge?

Since the Challenge is exclusive to our community, roster members can only earn Challenge credit for Hero WODs that are specifically scheduled and published by PATHFINDER for each Class cycle, or if completed in an official CrossFit box or GORUCK event. For example, "Murph" may count as a workout, but it will only be eligible for Challenge credit if it’s included in your Class’s approved Hero WODs, completed at your CrossFit box, or done in a GORUCK event.

Hero WODs can be completed in any order to count for credit.

If you completed the Hero WOD through an approved outlet (Crossfit affiliate or GORUCK), in the Notes area of your log, notate the name of the WOD you completed.

Can I nominate my hero to become a PATHFINDER Hero WOD?

Yes, we'd love to memorialize your hero with their own unique WOD. Please use this form to submit their information. PATHFINDER will make our best effort for every submission, but we are anticipating a large number of submissions, and your Hero may be included in other PATHFINDER Class cycles.
